Native

After spending a few hours surfing through You Tube, I came a across this band in the recommended videos section.  The Band Native is from Chicago, Illinois and would probably be best classified under the genre of post-hardcore.  What stand out the most for me is the technical drum beats and just overall flow of the songs.  The vocals may not be enjoyed by everybody who listens but the musicianship in this band is impeccable.  The members of this band are truly masters of their craft, and if you have the time to check them out, i would highly recommend you do.

A good song to start off with would be Backseat Crew which i feel shows the bands dynamics well.  However, if you are really not into the vocals, they do have some songs that are solely instrumentals; such as Pocket Jingle and Marco Polo.

Japandroids

The first time I heard of the Canadian band Japandroids was on the radio station x929. I instantly fell in love with them and bought their album entitled "Celebration Rock".  This group is from Vancouver, British Columbia and they are actually only a Duo! The band consists of a guitar player (Brian King) and a drummer (David Prouse) - King sings lead vocals and Prouse sings backup, as well.  they have been active since 2006 and have made a fairly big impact on the indie-rock scene.

If you are feeling some good raw and powerful sounding music, these are your guys.  With a combination of the rough sounding vocals and guitars and the powerful and driving drum lines, their songs it always puts me into a good mood and makes me want to get up and jump around to the tunes.

If I would suggest a song to start out with first it would be hands down The House that Heaven built, off the album i mentioned before, Celebration Rock.

The Dangerous Summer

I have been listening to this band for a while and, unlike a lot of bands, each new album has been as good or better than the previous ones.  "The Dangerous Summer" is an alternative rock group that was formed in 2006, getting signed to hopeless records in 2007. They are origionaly from Ellicot City, Maryland, United States and haven't got too popular yet from what I have noticed (which I think should change).

Some songs that I think would be a good start would be:

Work in progress
War paint
Where I want to be
Miles apart (revisited)
Sins

Let me know what you think in the comments below and even some of your own suggestions if you have any.

First Post

What I have found these days is that there is so much music out there that it is sometimes hard to find "the good stuff" or it is just hard to even begin searching for new kinds of music.  In this blog I want to expand peoples music horizon and open up your mind to new kinds of music that you might not normally check out.  I will provide a some background information on the bands that i chose to post about, as well as how I feel about the music that I am sharing.  I hope you all enjoy what I have to share and if there are any suggestions on what you are looking for. please let me know.
